This is just a quick note on what I am doing.
School is coming along just fine. My java class is taking the most time, but I am starting to get the hang of it.
With fall brings cooler weather, and that will give me more chance to out and take pictures with a local photo club. This photo is from a outing we took last month. It, and two others, will be displayed at a small show at the Katy Heritage Museum sometime soon. My first show!
The kids are doing just fine, and both are loving their classes.
I sit here on the Friday night before the daughter starts back to school for her second grade year, I myself am gearing up for school (again).
At this point, I am accepted at three different universities: University of Houston (main campus), University of Houston Downtown, and University of Houston Victoria.
Wait! I hear you say. UH Victoria? Why? Is that not a 2 1/2 hour drive from my house? Well, yes, but I do not expect to have to go there that often. UHV has classes there, in Sugar Land, and in Cinco Ranch, as well as on-line.
So, what is the big deal? UH has on-line classes (my last two semesters where all on-line). Well, two things. First, I can go back to being in Computer Science. I should be able to finish this a lot faster than the Technology Supervision and Leadership BS I am working on at UH. Second, and this is a bigger deal with the effort we are doing with our debt, it costs about 1/2 of what Main Campus does.
I am talking to the advisor on Monday about what classes count for what, and where I need to start. After that, I should know how much longer I have left. I might just finish college before the daughter does.
So, I started another term this week. And, I have already had one quiz.
This time, I am trying something a little different. Two out of the three classes I am enrolled in are on-line. One of them, I will never need to set foot on campus for, and the other only to take tests. This should help the time issue, as I only have to drive to campus once a week now, but it will force me to be much more responsible in my time management.
My classes this term are ones that I can apply right away. One of my on-line classes is a basic math class focusing on functions, and the other on-line class is in business law. The one that I go to campus for is in project management. That should help me a lot.
and that means that the semester is over.
Last night was the last class meeting for the fall session for me. I have 4 finals and some homework to finish up. Two of the test are on-line from home, one is on-line on campus, and the other is a traditional pen and paper thing. I think that most of the classes I will get a decent grade. The PoliSci class is my best. I got a 100 on the last test.
This has been a very interesting three months, and I have learned a lot of things, both in the class room, and about myself. Well, college is supposed to be about self-discovery, right?
